Day 30 - Classy Lassy

This is my final post in the 30 day challenge.

I got a little off track from having a cold to just loosing my                          motivation and desire to create.

This elegant choker has pale blue and silver pearls and crystals. Perfect with a simple black dress.

Day 29 - You may remember day 15?

Back on Day 15 a friend sent me a
surprise package of  beads in the mail

I made these earrings using the jade.

Then I said I was going to make something to match the earrings. Well I did but not all the way. I did the bead work and the pendant but I didn't have any chain to finish it off.

Finally!  Here's the matching Necklace.

Notice the little bird in the pendant?
That is why I added the little copper birdie.

Day 28 - Grandma's 90th birthday.

My Sweet Beautiful Grandma is turning 90 in August.

Grandma is truly the most beautiful person I know inside and out! Bless her heart though when she hugs you and give you a pat on the back get ready cause she will hurt you, the woman doesn't know her own strength, again inside and out. Grandma lived though the Great Depression, WWII, battled diabetes most of her adult life, she raised 5 children, and was married to my grandfather for 63 years. I've lost track of how many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren she has, but she hasn't.

I knew that I wanted to make her something special for her birthday. Grandma is living with my aunt in Florida and loves the Ocean. I decided to make a necklace that had pearls and the colors of the ocean.

Happy Birthday Grandma.
Love you!

Day 27 - Now all I need is that cute green dress.

A couple years ago David said I needed a cute green dress, so anytime I find or make green jewelry I remind him  that I still need that cute green dress.

Day 22 - Pastel Chips

Pastel Chips - Earrings

I'm really confused as to what day I should be on.
This head cold has really messed with my head.
I think this pair of earrings now have me caught up.

Day 21 - Amethyst

My friend Dawn send me the round amethyst
to make these earrings.

Day 20- Sea Foam

Sea foam bead with hematite earrings.

Day 19 - Asian Blue

My apologies I have been home in bed yucky sick with a head cold that has totally wiped me out.
so I didn't make any jewelry for a few days and now I am trying to get caught up.

My earring hooks are at home, they will be added later.

Day 18 - Simple leaf dangle pendant.

Yes I am still taking the easy way out. I was sick over the weekend and still don't feel 100% so bear with me. I  made the dangle with hematite and red and clear crystals and added it to the leaf pendant attached to a leather cord.

Day 17 - ear bobs!

I'm so thankful I don't have those hectic chaotic type days very often, .....but today was one of them. so I went with some little ear bobs that didn't make me have to think.

Hematite, Magnasite and a rust colored glass bead.

Day 16 - Opposites do attract

I love these simple little earrings. They remind me of the old saying Opposites attract.
Hematite and crystal

Day 15 - a surprise from a friend

I received a surprise package from a friend yesterday.

Fresh water pearls, Hematite, Jade, Amethyst, and lovely pendant.

Ok..... the finished piece for today is this pair of earrings using a couple of the Jade beads along with some of my own.
Hint:  Tomorrow's piece will probably match today's earring.

Day 14 - Memory wire Bracelet

This bracelet would go well with Day 10's earrings. just saying.

oops! I hit publish a bit to early. Technically this is suppose to  be tomorrows post. Well now you know, I work a little ahead. With VBS this week I don't know what the next day will hold so I am creating when I get a free minute.

Day 13 - Just Browsing

I had a few minutes to kill yesterday afternoon so I stopped in my favorite bead shop "Beadles Beads" and decided to just do some browsing.  Yeah right .....Like, "You can't eat just one, Lays Potato Chip" ..... You know, I can't go into Beadles and just browse.

Here is what I Just Browsed/ I mean bought.

Day 12 - blue, green and brown bracelet

This morning while getting dressed for work I thought .....mmm? Wish I had a bracelet to wear with this blouse.

So I grabbed up my box of beads and off to work I went. My Job is such that I have a lot of free time to make jewelry, cook, study......   Here is the end result.

Day 11 - Summer time blues

No I'm not down and depressed. These Summer time blues remind me of cool and refreshing which I wish we had a little it more of. I'm thinking I need some cool refreshing water. Planning to go out on the lake with some friends in their boat after VBS is over, then I can really relax.

Day 10 - A little Birdie Told Me......

Sorry that this pic is sideways. When downloading it flipped the picture on its side. Little Birdies are dive bombing.......Look out below.

Day 9 - Deep Purple

My biggest fan and sweet friend Dawn asked me a while back about purple jewelry. I have had a hard time finding the purple stones  1. I like
            2. are within my price range.

A while back I made a necklace and earring set for my niece that was purple. So, digging deep I found a very few purple stones and put these earrings together.

Kinda hard to tell they are purple, but they are.

Just a bit of info. I am directing the Vacation Bible School at my church with kicks off this evening with a Block Party and Then starts Monday evening, I plan to still make my challenge pieces. Most of them will probably be simple earrings similar to these. That way I'm not spending a lot of time selecting beads and putting them together.

Have a great weekend.

Day 8 - Down to Earth

A friend recently made a trip to Idaho and brought me this pendant.  My dear husband  picked out the beads several months ago. I felt they matched perfectly.

Sorry once again I don't know what the stones are called. I need to spend more time learning to identify different stones.

Day 7 - Happy Aftermath

I'm to old to work and play as hard as I do and then still expect to get up early the next morning refreshed and ready to start a new day. We went to a friends house for a 4th of July BBQ last night and stayed way to late for a work night. But we had a great time.

The cool grey skies are not helping me wake up and get moving either.  Oh, but I hope it RAINS!!! Not only do we so need it, but I love a good summer time rain, they are so rare.  Since I am feeling blurry and the sky is grey I think the piece I made this morning reflects these very well.

A friend gave me the black and green pendant from her abundant stash.  She is a jewelry maker also.  David picked out the green beads a long time ago and I didn't think I'd ever figure out what to do with them. He also selected the Hemitite. Unfortunately I don't know what the green beads are nor the pendant.

Day 6 - Flying the Colors

I hope you will understand and forgive me but because tomorrow (day 6) is the 4th of July, I am going to post a day early. I don't plan to spend my day off 1. making jewelry   2. sitting in front of a computer writing a blog. Sorry.

David & I have been invited to a friends house tomorrow evening for a BBQ so I think I will be wearing these;

Curious, I just noticed that the date on  the camera is wrong.
I really did take the pic this morning 07/03/2012.

Along with the necklace from day 3

Day 5 - peas in a pod

One of my other favorite things to do is garden.
This morning I pick these;

I sat down to start shelling the peas when my ADD kicked in and I remembered I needed to make my piece of Jewelry for today's challenge.  Well, because I still had peas on my mind. This is what I did.

First, I fixed a broken ankle bracelet that I had in my jewelry making bin.

I didn't feel like this was enough to really qualify as a challenge so I started digging through all my "green" peas.....I mean beads. :)

Green Glass bead Bracelet

A sneak preview.

A sweet friend surprised me with a bag full of beads and old jewelry pieces. Among the jewels I found a real treasure......This brooch. It is very similar to one I gave to my grandmother years ago. I can't wait to incorporate it into a necklace.

the wheels are turning.   I'm not saying this will be tomorrows piece, just keep watching it will turn up one of these days.

Day 4 - Fire on the Mountain

Living in the West we are experiencing an early fire season this summer due to a very dry spring and extreme hot summer. Yesterday morning I told my husband that it was a question of would we have wildfires here in our valley this summer but simply a matter of when. Yesterday afternoon was the first "When" of the season.

The air quality was pretty bad this morning due to all the smoke.

Yes, this is still a blog about Jewelry. I imagine by now you are probably wondering.

Today's piece was inspired from yesterdays ashes.  Whoa that's sounding almost scriptural.

.......to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,  Isaiah 61:3

ANY WAY.........

Fire on the Mountain Bracelet ....... notice the green, browns, reds and pale yellow.
Hope you enjoy!

Day 3 - The old red white and blue

I figured I had better make a necklace for the fourth of July before the 4th of July.

I have really come to like the asymmetrical style. I think it is a style that has to grow on you. Most people are use to jewelry being symmetrical. I remember the first time I saw an asymmetrical necklace that a friend made It really bothered me, I kept wanting to reach out and fix it.  I thought she had just made a mistake and didn't notice.

That same friend gave me most of the stones in this necklace.
There is moonstone, sodalite, freshwater pearls, and a couple other types that unfortunately I don't know their names, but I know that I like them.
